The recent review of Beyond Forever by bookstagrammer Julcsi (@jayinbookland) is honestly the finest thing I could ever have hoped for to be said about my books. Julcsi is such a wonderful and insightful person who I learn so much from. She always manages to see the larger perspective and explain things that I’ve missed or been too naïve to see for what they are. It therefore means the world to me that she has enjoyed my books and thought the LGBTQ+ characters to be credible and written with respect. Some of the wonderful things Julcsi said in the review was that: “Beyond Forever is the third and final book of the Angelheart Saga. It is a YA romance trilogy that features a straight couple as the main characters, but its world is just as diverse as ours: it has LGBTQ+ characters (not just one!), it speaks up against poverty, homelessness, homo- and transphobia, it features characters from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds and these are only a couple of examples.” “Annie Woods is honestly the most supportive person I have met on Bookstagram and her respectful attitude reflects in the The Angelheart Saga books! I have seen her support the Black Lives Matter movement and she has spoken up about LGBTQ+ issues many times. Once, she also got in touch with me when she saw that I had been the object of disrespectful comments because of my queer identity. I will always be grateful to her for this.” I am passionate about fighting injustice, racism and homophobia, and I want to contribute in every way I can, even though I only have a small platform as an indie author. That’s why I think it’s so important with diverse books and LGBTQ+ representation in YA and why it was necessary for me to have that in my own books, and also why I try my best to share and promote others. Reading gives you such an amazing opportunity to see the world through someone else’s eyes and to educate yourself. We all need to share the experience and views from as many different aspects as possible, to make this world a more open-minded, emphatic and better place. It therefore means the world to me that Julcsi has enjoyed my books and thought the LGBTQ+ characters to be credible and written with respect. Honestly, that is the finest thing I could ever hope for someone to say about my books and I am just so happy and honored right now!
