King Arthur and Her Knights, book 7, by K.M. Shea is the epic finale of the funny, sassy, magical, wonderful retelling of the King Arthur legend and a story about a strong woman and how passion, a sense of right and wrong, and a bad-ass attitude can make wonders and change the world!

Starting this book, I was a bit worried how K.M. Shea would manage to conclude this wonderful series. I was expecting a sad or at least bittersweet ending, as I couldn’t comprehend how Britt, Merlin and her knights could be given a happy ending that wouldn’t feel cheesy or out of tune with the story. But I soon realized that there was no reason at all to worry. K.M. weaves together the final threads to complete this King Arthur legend with a twist in an amazing way. Loose ends are resolved and the story comes to a very surprising, but satisfying conclusion.

I absolutely adore this series! K.M. Shea has managed to take this old legend and turn it into a sassy adventure, giving it a feministic touch and so much humor. It has a kind of Outlander-flair to it, in how modern day Britt has to adjust to the Medieval customs and how she does it with integrity, fighting for women’s rights and being totally bad-ass and, apparently a hell of a swords man (woman). Just like the previous six books, I binge-read this one in just one day too. I just love this unconventional twist, and the way K.M. Shea writes, it’s such a great take and so intriguing!

King Arthur and Her Knights, books 4-6, by K.M. Shea is the fabulous sequel to the funny, sassy, magical, wonderful retelling of the King Arthur legend and a story about a strong woman and how passion, a sense of right and wrong, and a bad-ass attitude can make wonders and change the world!

This next set of books in the King Arthur series is just as entertaining and with the same great characters and humorous writing style as in the first set.

Britt Arthurs, the twenty-something old, modern day girl, who was transported to Medieval England and the Arthurian legend in the first set, has now come to accept her role and has turned into something of her own liking.

Just like the first set of books, I binge-read this second one in just one day too. I just love this unconventional twist, and the way K.M. Shea writes, it’s such a great take and so intriguing!

I loved everything about this book, except the ending, which was way too abrupt and leaving too many questions unanswered. But that was until I realized that there is actually another book in this series, called “Endings”...

King Arthur and Her Knights 1-3 by K.M. Shea

My reading tips this week the absolutely fabulous King Arthur and Her Knights by K.M. Shea. I totally adore this wonderful, amazing and humorous re-telling of the King Arthur legend with a twist; King Arthur is actually a woman! Now if that’s not a blurb to get you intrigued…
Picture
Modern day, twenty-something old, Britt Arthurs gets the shock of her life when she’s doing a literary tour with her friends in England and touches the famed Sword in the Stone and seconds later finds herself transported to Medieval England and the Arthurian legend. At first, thinking it’s a prank by her friends, then that she’s dreaming, she eventually accepts the fact that she has time-travelled and expected to play the role of King Arthur, who has disappeared. All the famous persons from the legend is here; Merlin, the knights, Lancelot and Guinivere… but their stories are all told from another perspective.

I absolutely adore it! This book has had me hooked since I read the blurb and it never let go. I binge-read all three books one late night, not able to put the story down. (The three books in this collection are kind of short though, so all three together is more the ‘normal’ size of a book.) I just love this unconventional twist, and the way K.M. Shea writes, it’s such a great take and so intriguing!

The only downturn was that I hadn’t understood that there were another collection of King Arthur and Her Knights-stories (6 books all together) so now I’m dying to get my hands on the second collection too to continue this amazing fairytale reading. And to see if my wish for a Britt-Merlin romance comes true…

All in all, I love this series and I cannot recommend it enough! A funny, sassy, magical, wonderful retelling of the King Arthur legend and a story about a strong woman and how passion, a sense of right and wrong, and a bad-ass attitude can make wonders and change the world!

Swan Lake by K.M. Shea

The Swan Lake by K.M. Shea is a classic tale that has been re-written into a lovely, enchanting and modern, yet magical story. This was my first K.M. Shea book and it immediately got me hooked and made me want to read more of her fairy tale retellings!
Picture
The story was so beautifully told that it felt magical, yet simple, old, yet new, and narrated in a way that pulled you into a shining fairytale world, but still felt modern. I absolutely adored the female protagonist, Odette, and her fierce attitude combined with her selflessness and the protective way she took care of her smuggler band The Black Swans. It was such a great twist that Odette and the other swans were smugglers, it added a flavor of adventure and made Odette and her friends so much more bad-ass and relatable.

I also liked the other female characters in this story, especially lady Benno and the Empress. The way the Empress tells her sons off is so hilarious! I would have liked to have more of that in the story and also to get to know more about lady Benno’s background to fully understand her. But all in all, the women in this story really makes this story shine. The two princes could perhaps have gotten some more depths, but I immediately took a liking in Prince Alexsei. So gentle and noble, and the romance between him and Odette was so sweet and enjoyable.

This book also left with some really potential stories - especially the mystery with the evil sorcerer Rothbart and the hints that he was not as evil as expected - that makes me want to continue exploring K.M. Shea’s retellings right away.

Overall, this is a very lovely read that brings you shining happy magic, a sweet love story and bad-ass female characters, something you can never get enough of!
